And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants [were] with him. NUM. 22:22
We are each of us striving to do God's will in our lives. Balaam was a man who wanted to do what God wanted, and even told Balak's servants that he didn't want to do something God didn't want him to do. Yet, we see God angry with the man, even though he was going where God wanted him! You might ask why. If you read this account you will see quickly that God told Balaam to go with the men who called for him, but Balaam stayed put and moved in his own time. God was so angry that he interrupted Balaam's journey and even spoke to him through the very Ass he was riding on. Balaam wanted to just plow ahead on his own time table, convinced he was doing God's will, but not in God's timing. God was equally convinced that Balaam needed to know just who was in charge, and that he needed Balaam to move WHEN as well as WHERE He said.
Friends, many churches today are doing WHAT God wants, but are they doing it WHEN and HOW God wants? Are you? Am I? It is crucial that we move when God says and stay when God says. Doing anything else will lead to being smashed against a wall. We urge you to stay in prayer this week. Opportunities abound, but timing is everything! The WHEN, WHERE, HOW are as important as the WHO AND WHAT. Battles are often won when the forces move at the right moment and not before. We believe you are well versed in WHO you are listening to, but we urge you to know WHEN you are to stop listening and start moving. Don't be a Balaam and force God to get your attention again. He loves you and he has a plan for your life! Just do not get in a hurry, do not hesitate and do not misstep...God will direct thy paths (a lamp unto your feet) and He will see you through!
In Love,
Elder Mark and Sister Dana
