And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. LUKE 19:13
Friends, whenever we hear this phrase "Occupy till I come", we always hear about working and pushing forward and "holding on". But in this case the word "occupy" means "possess". God has given you a great gift. In most cases, more than one gift has been given. What you have to decide is "do you possess"? Do you own what God has given you, or is it just a blessing in your inventory to be pulled out when the going gets rough? Is what God gave you just a memory?
In possessing what God gives you, you make it part of who you are and how you react. You become something better and something more than you have been. When God gives you something - from a promise to a physical blessing - he expects you to own it! He expects you to incorporate that promise or that blessing into your decision making process, your actions and reactions. Everything from that point must be based upon POSSESSING that which God gives you.
Here's the problem: many of us are given things to possess and we set them aside, making them just something to pull out when we are desperate to remember that God did something for us. But God is looking for GROWTH! He's looking for you to move from one blessing to the other, never forgetting each but making them an active part of your future faith so that when you hit the wall again you won't panic, but you will have POSSESSION OF THE PROMISE! Hold to God's unchanging hand and you will learn to calmly move into your future blessings, having the past to show God how you've invested and brought the return of faith.
In Love,
Elder Mark
