2 Timothy 1:12: For I know Him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed onto Him against that day.
What a statement of faith! But, let's look at it a little deeper. That day, in my mind is a day of judgement; a day of trial or tribulation or, if you want, trouble. It is a day when things don't go right. A day when you don't get that job you wanted, that raise you prayed for, that car you hoped for. It is a day when friends turn their backs on you, when your family tells you that you are too fanatical, that you are trying too hard, going too deep.
That day is the day your past catches up with you, and judgment is looming. It is not a pleasant day. And inside ourselves, through the Word, we know that God is able to see us through. But we see so many fellow Christians fall by the wayside, and so many struggle when that day comes. WHY? I believe it is because they are focusing on something other than what God intended in this passage. They think that because they have prayed over a thing it will simply stop being a problem. They (those that struggle, or fall, mind you), think that because they have turned it over to God, it no longer can hurt them. That's where they miss it.
God never promised you that you would not be tested, or not have to pay for past mistakes, or that you would get EVERYTHING you wanted! NO! God said, that he could keep that which you committed unto Him AGAINST (or when) THAT DAY (came). Well, what did you commit unto Him?
I submit that you committed YOU unto Him. I submit that because you did, God is able to keep YOU against that day of judgement; that God will see YOU through. I say that God is committed to YOUR survival, success, and salvation! Take your eyes off the material, and see the spiritual. Know that this life is but a vapor. God will supply all your need according to His riches in Glory, but that doesn't stop a rainy day!
Be faithful, my friend, be faithful. Know that God loves you and will keep you intact, saved, and spiritually successful when all other things seem to be going wrong! God loves YOU, and will keep YOU against that day! YOU WILL COME THROUGH and this too, shall pass.
